Alison Yu, MA, M.Div., LCPC
Hello, I’m Alison — a bilingual therapist (English and Mandarin) with a heart for helping people find healing, clarity, and connection.
My own journey began in China, and at 29 I moved to the United States, where I now live with my husband — a second-generation Chinese American — and our two children. Living within both cultures has given me a deep understanding of the challenges and richness of immigrant family life. I am especially passionate about supporting first- and second-generation family members as they navigate intergenerational differences, discover common ground, and build relationships marked by greater understanding and connection.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent seven years in ministry and went on to earn my M.Div. My training in both psychology and theology allows me to weave faith into therapy when it feels helpful for you, while always respecting your unique values and preferences.
In my work, I draw not only on professional training but also on my own journey of facing struggles, healing from trauma, and learning to embrace both freedom and peace. These experiences shape the way I sit with clients today — with empathy, steadiness, and a belief in the possibility of change.
Outside of the therapy room, I also create psycho-educational videos in Mandarin Chinese on mental health and relationships to reach a wider community. Teaching and sharing in this way is another extension of my calling: making resources for healing more accessible to all. Feel free to check out my videos on these platforms: 小红书, Bilibili, 小宇宙 and YouTube.
